Team Gozo Day Two (Monday)

The following are blog entries from different members of the team:
The trip to Puebla was long, but very eye opening.  Our flight went well and we went through customs without a hitch. It took us a while to find all of our luggage at baggage claim but we eventually got all of our bags together.  The trip from Mexico City to Puebla was, to say the least, sobering.  It is easy to take so many things for granted, but until you see how the rest of the world lives, you just can't comprehend it.  We arrived at our house and got settled for the night.  It would have been a relaxing  sleep, except for the super loud music being played at the party next door to the house.  The music highlight for me was the oldie "Wooly Bully."  Sunday morning we went to church.   It was a very cool experience.  The people, kids and adults alike, worshipped God through the music with such energy and wreckless abandon.  They were unashamed of their love for Jesus and it showed in the emotion with which they sang the songs.  It was convicting as well as inspiring.  After church we went to Esperanza Viva to spend time with the kids.  It was heart warming to see kids, once with no hope, thriving in an environment where they are surrounded by the love of Christ.  I was able to meet Javier, the child my wife, Theresa, and I sponsor.  He met Theresa this past July.  A big smile came across his face when I showed him a picture of her.  We toured Esperanza Viva and then headed back to the house for the evening.  I'm excited for what God has in store for us the rest of the week.

P.S. Theresa, Happy Valentine's Day!  I love you and look forward to seeing you when I return.  Give Evan and Gabe hugs and kisses for me.

I've experienced very few spiritual and emotional highs like Sunday's worship service.  I stood holding a once rejected little girl who clutched my neck and sang with all her heart in a language that God knows well.  God's promises and love are so strong and true for this little seven year old as they are for you and me.  We are having an incredible time demonstrating the hands and feet of Christ to these kids who in many ways are spiritual giants eclipsing my own understanding and perspective.

Alissa, Sierra and Kaley,
I love and miss you!  Those who sent us and are praying for us, thank you, your prayers are cherished.
