Kettlebrook Youth Team Day Four (Tuesday)

The following blog is from the team for the events from Monday:

Today flew by, holy cow!

It was our first work day on la tierra (the land). Some of us were building a masonry window frame for the entrance, some were adding mortar in the cement walls, and some worked on the foundation of part of a building. We were amazed at the large space and beautiful view…”It’s so big an open – the kids are going to love it!” It was a privilege to work alongside a really big construction crew pouring cement with big crane-like hoses on the second floor of the new home.
We think the kids could tell how hot and parched we were when we got back to the youth home, because a “massive” water fight broke out … really epic! We learned how many things you can have in common with people, even when you don’t share (fluently) the same language … the fun of water fight “paybacks”, playing games like Connect 4, Ninja, and singing worship songs.
We love being a little part of Living Hope this week. We love seeing how beautiful children, precious creations of God, are given a caring and safe place to grow, to go to school and also learn about God, eternal life and Jesus’ love. And we love playing pretty much anything with them! We don’t want this time to end.
Tonight we talked about how many of us already have our hearts stirred to move from short-term missionaries to long-term missionaries. We talked about ways we can continue to be part of God’s work here. We talked about how things we spend our money on back home are so temporary and how money used at a place like this make a lasting, loving difference. So maybe we’ll conveniently lose our passports and just stay…?
