First Congregational Church Day Five (Thursday)

Thursday, June 3:
Juana and the 7 Dwarfs were back at it again today. While the workers put up frames for pillars in the guest bathroom, we cleaned up the work are and put wood into piles to be covered by tarp. When we finished, some of the group dug trenches around bushes in the pear orchard and others mixed concrete for pillars. Working closely with the guys these past few days has been a lot of fun. Despite the language barrier, there were a lot of laughs and smiles.
After lunch we had fun activities planned for the kids. Gail read the children the story of Noah’s Ark from a Spanish Children’s Bible. Then each child was given a paper ark with animal stickers so they could make their own ark. When they finished, each child was given an animal mask to wear. Some were acting out their animal sounds. They were adorable. When they finished playing, we read them the story Reuben’s Rainbow. After the story the children colored their own rainbow on paper. The children are so much fun to be around. They are full of life and hope.
Later tonight we are having the older girls over for pizza. We plan on making fleece blankets with the girls. Each girl will make her own blanket and no two patterns are the same.
