New Day Church (Wednesday)

Thoughts from Monday and Tuesday:
This morning was great. First, Nee’koh threw water on Sarah and me to wake us up at 8 am…very mean. Then I tried to make French toast with the stove off…much to the amazement of Seth and Nee’koh.  After all these mishaps we spent some time with our Lord in prayer and devotions. Nee’koh is the best and funniest prayer in the world in my opinion. He gets so moved by God, yet he talks to him like God’s his best friend. Today he asked God to “try” not to let it rain. Ha! Once we were all ready and in the van we sang worship songs. Nee’koh’s favorite is “I Wanna See Jesus Lifted High.” We all love Jesus, but that song…once you’ve heard it a hundred times, it’s gotta go!
Me, Sarah, and my mom had the funniest job in the world today. We had to dig up the ground for a soccer field. Part of it was tough to dig up because it was recently pressed flat and because it was so dry. While the other half of the team was so muddy we could hardly keep our feet steady while attempting to push down the shovel. The boys and Sharron had a MUCH easier job (in our opinion, the three of us I mean). They put dirt in a bucket, then a wheel barrel, then dumped it out a little bit away. They say it was hard…but I don’t know. Sarah got 5 blisters from yesterday’s and today’s work. I think Matt has the weirdest blisters…he has two blisters on the back of his thumbs. How does one get blisters there? Only God knows.
All Seth and Ben do all day is play soccer pretty much. Ben gets showed up by little boys at Esperanza Viva though. It’s so funny. And since he can’t speak Spanish, all he says is, “¡Yo soy enchilada!” (I’m an enchilada!) Sharron is such a blessing. She gives the children candy, let’s them play with her hair, and helps blow up balloons for them. She’s such an amazing person. My mom and William talk to the kids (well my mom tries) and do things to keep everyone interested. Even though my mom doesn’t speak Spanish, it’s the thought that counts. I bet the children appreciate that she’s trying. We’re all trying. Oh, and we played with the stamps today. Sarah either looks like she has billions of stamp bruises, or she was attacked by a rabid ink pad. We still aren’t quite sure.
After spending time at Esperanza Viva, we came home and had a worship time with about 30-40 staff members. It was great. We had music, conversations, and blessings. Language doesn’t matter, God’s love is bilingual.
It rained again. We played soccer in our court yard. Nee’koh, Sarah and me took mini showers. Seth and Ben are attempting to teach me to dribble a soccer ball. I’m so not good!!!
Now we’re playing cards again. Yea. Egyptian Rat Race is only fun when my arm doesn’t get beat off by Ben every other minute. We miss you!
