Day One: Friday Jan 11
Our team started the day in dark, rainy and foggy weather. It ended with our arrival at Esperanza Viva just after seeing a beautiful sunset with the volcano in view.
Bob Krames and Bob Simmons deserve special thanks as our drivers on the way down through less than ideal conditions. We took off on time and landed ahead of schedule. Unfortunately, two donation bags were temporally missing, but praise God, they were found and are on their way. We then boarded a bus in Mexico City to Puebla. A special thanks to Ale and Raul for meeting us at the bus station to take us to Esperanza Viva.
We arrived to beautiful new visitor dorm, thanks to generous donations from individuals and companies.
We are happy to say we all arrived safely and we are excited to see what God has in store in the days ahead.
After morning devotional, we were able to have breakfast with the children at Esperanza Viva. Kris and Craig were reunited with their sponsor child, Maribel.
On our way back to the dorms, one of the children started a wrestling match with Tim. After a close match, both were declared the winner by Carl. The group then split up; half played basketball with the kids while others helped some children pick up trash.
Ale gave us a tour of Esperanza Viva and showed us the vision for Esperanza Viva. It is apparent that God has done, is doing, and will continue to do amazing things here.
After the tour, we gathered up the kids and let them launch water balloons. It only took a few launches to get dozens of kids out to both launch and “catch” the balloons.
Afterwards, there was more time spent with the kids; ending with a long soccer game.
