Community Church Day Three (Tuesday)

Today we went out to the new land to start on the sidewalks. We hauled dirt to the forms and tamped it in the forms. We also mixed cement and poured it in the forms. Then we went to the orphanage and ate lunch. After that we did crafts with the boys. More difficult for them than for the girls. Boys will be boys. They seem to like the piggy back rides the most. They also like playing soccer and basketball. Tomorrow it's back to the grind working on the sidewalks.

Mexico is a country of smiling children and hospitable and giving people.

Went to the land today to begin the sidewalk. I'm so excited for the children to be able to run on eleven acres and pick pears off the fruit trees. The scenery is beautiful with rolling mountains and a smoking volcano in the background.

It is so good to finally meet and talk with Araceli, who I've supported for 9 years. What a beautiful young lady she'd grown into.

Pleasant weather. A great experience and a great team.

Hi people @ home! Today we went out to the land that Esperanza Viva bought. We had to help build the sidewalk so we dumped a ton of dirt into the mold (36 feet long). Then we had to compact it with this tool thing. :o) After that the group mixed concrete in a small mixer. But the mixer wasn't working right so we only got one piece laid, but in America it would be like two. We were there from like 10:00am to 1:00pm. When we were done there we went back to the orphanage and had lunch and hung out with the kids. We also built the boys scrapbooks. That took longer than it did with the girls, because the girls listen better! :o) We did that from about 2:45 to 4:25. Then we "taught" them a song with motions. But it didn't work so well today because they had never heard it before. Then we came home around 4:45 and most of Esperanza Viva's team came over for worship/fellowship/meet the crazy American time. :) They have a really good worship band. Then Jesse, Cody, Maddy, Erin Carlson, and I played basketball. The end.

Today we started work on the sidewalks at the new site of Esperanza Viva. The work started at around 10:30. After getting the dirt packed down the work kind of slowed down and we sat around a lot. Then at 1:00 we left for the orphanage and made some scrapbooks with the little boys. Once again I had multiple children jumping on me and trying to trip me, but it's fun. Before we left we danced a loco dance for the kids song and the kids looked at us like, "What are these crazy white people doing?" After going to the orphanage we came back to the house and had a worship service in the living room. It was.... intense. Then I wrote this and gave it to our hosts. Adios, God bless.
