East Hill Team Day One - Monday

Blog for Day 1…Just getting here.

We figured last night that it takes 14 hours from door to door to get here. We weren’t exactly feeling the prayers in the wee hours of the morning: Steve and Sue packed everything in the Pathfinder only to get in and find out we had a dead battery. Thank God for a second car! We arrived at our daughter’s house for her to take us to the airport and she wasn’t there! She felt horrible that she overslept at a friend’s house! She is forgiven… not only my daughter, but also my friend…and I love her! Thank God again that her friend Peryll just arrived last Tuesday night to live with them for awhile, so she took us. However…my daughter was over-done by Adrina, who woke up at 5:45 a.m. when she was supposed to be at the airport at 5:30 a.m. She thru everything into her suitcase not knowing really what she had and drove 70 mph down 82nd avenue to get to the airport at 6:05. (Sound familiar Lisa??) She had to be checked in by 6:15 or they wouldn’t even let her on the plane! When we were going thru security one of the security personnel started yelling “we’ve got one here!” and people were running toward the gate…everything stopped, including all conversation of those in line. The airport was silent. Then we found out it was just a drill! +_+ NOT FUNNY!

We all got on the plane, arrived in LA, departed from LA and got thru customs without a glitch. We were finally home free to Mexico City…or so we thought. There was a medical emergency about ½ way thru the flight. A lady was going into Diabetic shock…or whatever you call it. She had her insulin, but no needle in which to inject it. The first announcement was “We have a medical emergency, are there any doctors or medical personnel (of which there were two). The flight attendant reached medical personnel on the ground with a headset via a long cord down the aisle. Ultimately, they called for any other diabetics who might have a needle that would attach to the insulin pens…and there was one person…all that was needed! After 45 minutes of emergency attention, she received her injection and was somewhat recuperated by the time we landed.

After arriving at the “guest house” we worked into the evening to unpack, sort and organize all that we brought: 3 garbage bags full of pajamas (thanks to Doranna), lots of prizes for Game Day, 2-3 garbage bags of nice clothes and shoes for the kids, and all our project supplies mixed in with our own personal clothes. We all got a great night’s rest and are ready to go today.

The bottom line is that Satan was focused on blocking our attempts to be here; but we persevered and with the knowledge that if he is that intent on blocking our way, then he is obviously afraid of the impact we are going to have while we are here. That’s EXCITING news! We live this week under the covering of Psalm 91.

The kids are throwing the hacky-sack balls on top of the top and were catching them as they came down.
