East Hill Team Day Two - Tuesday

This is Chelsea’s Grandma…What a blessing for grandchildren… today is Chelsea’s Birthday.. we served her French toast with a candle. She read a letter from her parents and opened a gift of a purity ring. Her joy was evident and we got lots of pictures for Mom & Dad.

Monday, our first day started with Dan leading Devotions giving us insight into the purity of children in God’s eyes. We then traveled to Esperanza Viva and were given a tour by Juana to see the facilities which include the classrooms, dorms, print shop, infirmary, offices, music room, maintenance & construction areas which also train older boys in some trades. We then had lunch with the teens, missionaries from LaVina, and the staff. Afterwards we did name bracelets (slap bracelets) & hacky sacks with the children. They decorated both with colored markers and then played for a long time with the hacky sacks throwing them on the large tent roof and catching them as they came down. Others played basketball, marbles, chess, Connect 4, and reading some new books we brought for them. The books were grabbed up in seconds. Jim Carlson who is now here full time (was a part of our team) tried different readers (glasses) that we brought with us with one of the children. He was excited to be able to read the words in the books from a distance instead of two inches away from the page. We left a supply of varying strengths for future use.
Returning team members were excited to see the kids that they sponsor and there were more hugs than communication. In addition, they brought gifts for those kids and took time out with each to give them gifts. They were all so excited and appreciative. Many of the kids took off right away to play with and share their games or toys and

We were transported to the guest house where we were introduced to Recie Saunders, www.itinerantministryteam.com who will be training 21 LaVina students (missionary school) about Understanding Dreams and Visions. We had a lively discussion with Recie to the point that we only had a little over an hour to run to the shopping center for some last minute supplies.

After returning from the shopping center, we prepared our supplies for the next day’s activities, some talked further about how the world is evolving spiritually, while others played a little Hand and Foot (cards). Since we had such a good night’s sleep the night before, we talked well into the night.
