Today our team headed to Nations Church, a community of people including locals and the staff and children from Esperanza Viva. We were blessed to be part of the very passionate worship service. Before the formal service began, we worshipped for almost an hour and it was amazing! It was truly an Easter that we will always remember as we celebrated Jesus’ resurrection; He died for the sins of the world so we may have eternal life.
We returned to the guest house for a lunch break and then spent the afternoon in Cholula. With Molly and Rodrigo as our guides, we toured the ruins and walked up part of the pyramid which was built over 1,300 years ago. Then when the Roman Catholics arrived, they built a church on top of the pyramid at the top of the hill. It was amazing to interact with the locals and be submersed in their beautiful culture. We walked past street vendors selling everything from jewelry to eccentric foods. Ethan, Jenn and Rachel were brave enough to eat fried grasshoppers!
Our day concluded with a spaghetti dinner followed by a team debrief, where we talked about the different ways we saw God working in our lives, as well as those around us.
Dios te bendiga,
Alexa and Jenna
