Hola!
We arrived to Puebla, Mexico on Saturday June 19th, 2010 after what felt like a weeklong plane and bus ride. Upon arriving, we tiredly unpacked and met with the Carlsons for quick orientation of essential information. Though we were sleepy and ready for bed we could not hide our excitement for the upcoming week. We went to bed happy to finally be at our home away from home. Waking up proved to be harder than we thought but as we worshiped together and had Jason share some verses (Joshua 1:9 & Genesis 22 ) it totally showed us why we were called to be here, sleepy or not. After eating breakfast, the Esperanza Viva short bus (which was said to hold 21 but sooo could not!) picked us up for our first time at Nations Church. The church worship was amazing! God could not have been more present in that place! We got a translated message on the influences parents have on children. After church we got a chance to spend some money. All of us had a hard time buying things not only because we don’t speak Spanish but also because we felt like we were getting WAY too good of a deal! Then our cute little short bus came and picked us up to take us to the orphanage where we got an awesome tour and great lunch. After eating ALL of our food given to us, we met up with the Carlsons again to go see the beautiful city of Cholula! We got a once in a lifetime chance to see Cholula Pyramid and a tour of a catholic church on top of the hidden ruins. Then afterwards some Mexican bargaining called our names! (SHOPPING!). Once again we boarded our bus to head home. As some of us made dinner the others got some time to relax, show their treasures, or play some pelt. Juana our host for this week came to join us for some delicious dinner, and finish our orientation. Clean up was a breeze, except Andrew and Marly doing ALL the dishes by hand!! But getting past that little detail, we ended our day with learning some new fun crafts that we get to do with the kids tomorrow! Now writing this, while some are off to bed, showering , or playing some cards around the little coffee table!
We say Adios and time for bed,
Emily, Brant & Andrew Wilson
