Thoughts from Monday:
Hola
It’s now Monday June 21, 2010 and we just had an amazingly busy day.
We started our day with “daily devotional” given by Emily Brant and Marly Schnackenberg, it was about how we are one body in Christ and need to love each other unconditionally, even though we might get irritated with each other. We had a great breakfast made by Adrina’s group. It had to have been some of the best eggs we have ever had. With our skin covered in sunscreen and our tummies full we headed off to our work site for the day. The work site is about 30 minutes away from our home. Our ride was quit an adventure between the slug bug punches and the bumps in the road we were all ready to get out of the car (which was sadly not our short bus). We first got a tour of the site then each group got assigned a job for the day. Some groups got to help build bathrooms while others had fun playing in the dirt shoveling a soccer field or building a wall. After two hours of hard labor, the team headed back into town for lunch at the orphanage. That’s when we got our first chance to get close to the children living there. That’s when all of the kids beat almost everyone on our team at “Speed”- a card game. We had a great time making name tags with the kids though beads were going every where the name tags still looked muy bonito (very pretty). While some of us made paper crosses with the kids others started to play some crazy games. It was so much fun seeing the kids running around and having a great time. The smiles on their faces were a priceless sight. Sadly our time with the kids had to come to a close for the day. As we got home we had a nice little talk about what had happened today. Some of us wanted to rest but the leaders had something different in mind. They tried to keep a water fight a secret. Little did they know we were hiding around the corners ready to attack. Somehow we kids got a hold of silly string to shock our leaders even more. The water and string was not a fun mix. All giggles we finally started to get ready for dinner. Linda and Chelsea made amazing quesadillas. Everyone wanted seconds. After dinner the Carlson family came over for some more devos . God was totally moving tonight as we all started praying and singing out our songs to Him. Our night ended with one of our team members getting healed and playing some fun games together.
Time to say good night and adios.
