Team Gozo Day Five (Thursday)

Wednesday and Thursday were rainy days. I would say they were the most labor intensive of the week. Wednesday we spent most of the day hauling dirt and getting the hole that was dug for the bathroom ready for cement. We then mixed one large batch of cement by hand and leveled it in the hole. That night we went to Nations Church for their evening service. They challenged us about surrendering everything to God.
Thursday we spent the morning mixing cement. Man, was that hard work. Many of us spent the rest of the day tying together rebar. We took some time to pray for the men of Esperanza Viva that were working with us this week. It was a very moving moment for me realizing we are all in this together. We’re all fighting the same battle, but in different parts of the world. I really appreciate the work that God is doing through these people. This trip had definitely challenged me about where I am with God and my level of surrender to His will.

Had a horrible day, rain and cold, but loved every minute of it. Getting to know the wonderful people down here has been moving. We have some new friends. Worked hard and were grateful to be used by God. Everyone got along even in the tough times.
Looking forward to going home on Saturday, but will miss the people we came with and the people who live here.
Phillip got a nickname: Perro Caliente, which means hotdog because he is skinny.

Dear Angel,
Today rocked! I cannot wait to see you again. It will be nice to take a nice warm shower and sleep on my own… couch. Oh well, at least we will be back together.
Love,
Hubby Ben

Dear Judah,
So what did you do today? I played with lots of mud. You are a good boy, and I love you!
Love,
Daddy Ben

Dear Belah,
     I’m gonna get you… I love you!
Love,
Daddy Ben

When God reveals himself in a new way to you, remember it, cherish it and build upon it. Last time I was here in Mexico, Joshua 3 came to life for me. This trip it is Joshua 4. Not necessarily common Scriptures to draw from but meaningful to me now.

It’s going to be hard to leave. This group has truly become like a family. The week has gone by so fast. Everything went very well at the jobsite – even with the cold and rain. A lot got completed. Words can’t describe the lessons learned on this trip. Can’t wait to see you again Hun! Love you! Let everyone know that everything is going great!

Hi Tina and Bianca,
I miss you both very much. Counting the days to see you guys. Today was the last day at work and I think it was the hardest. I definitely know how to shovel by now. I love you both very much and will see you Saturday.

Lori - Anna, Family, Friend,
Rain, cold, two days in a row. God gave us all strength to finish our project. I miss all of you. Can’t wait to hold and kiss you Lori and Anna. You two are so much of my life. I have thought of you both every minute I have to myself. Anna, I’m so proud to be your dad. I love you Anna, can’t wait to snuggle with you before bedtime. See you in 2 days.
Love,
Dad

Stacie,
I hope you get this message. We finished work today and achieved our goal. God has blessed us all and we have been able to stay healthy. We are laughing a lot and drawing close to God. There are many stray dogs here and they look quite unhealthy. One dog in our camp is only 3 months old and if I could take her home with me I would. I tried to feed her because I know you would want me to. Hug Jake!

Hardest day so far. Rained all morning and afternoon. But the more it rained the more we laughed and pulled together to get the rebar bent and the cement mixed. I’m grateful for my new bothers-in-Christ. What a crazy and fun mix of guys the Lord put together for a week in Mexico.

We had a great day today even though it rained. We finished our portion of the bathroom project. Looking forward to seeing the kids for the last time on Friday. God has been good! We finally found Rick!

I am sooo glad I came! God has shown his presence here every day. This large group has worked hard as a team, every day, and has been able to accomplish much.
Amy and Kate have been a great blessing by cooking and providing for these guys. I am blessed beyond measure and pray that future teams can experience what I have during this week.

We have seen the Lord at work here at Esperanza Viva. What a testimony of God’s provision for the orphanage here in Puebla through the finances and lives of others who care about them. You can see the hope in the eyes of the children who live here.
The time here has been both eye opening and a blessing to be able to participate in the next phase of their growth. The Lord provides for the building of the new dormitory, kitchen, bathrooms, etc. little by little in the giving of others and physical labor provided by others. We have been blessed to be here and watch expectantly as the project continues.
