After approximately 13 hours of travel we got to Puebla, Mexico. On our wa to our "casa" - or "house" - we entertained ourselves with slug bug. It got rather violent since one of every 3 cars is a bug. When we arrived, we were welcomed by bright yellow walls inside. The first night we hung out and had sword fights with bamboo sticks.
The next day (Saturday) we got picked up to go to the orphanage at 9:30. We got a tour, then went straight to work. Katherine, Katlyn, Kristine, and myself climbed to the roof to chip off old paint. While on the roof, a four-year-old boy named Emmanuel was talking to us from below. After we came down, it didn't take long before we made friends with him.
At 2:00 we went to the church for youth service. We got back to our casa about 7 p.m. and were happy to rest. We played the card game Mafia as a family.
Saturday was overall a good day.
On Sunday we got picked up at 9:30 for church. We did not let the language barriers stop us from worship. Everyone loved the service. We had a translator. After church they had things for sale, and we all tried pig skin, which was surprisingly tasty! Then we went to Cholula and walked around. It was beautiful. Some group members shopped and numerous tried eating crickets! Everyone is getting to know one another and having fun.
