(Written Saturday)
We literally and figuratively flew to Mexico yesterday. Wow, could we for sure tell that people were praying for safety and smooth travel! We were floating on answered prayers the whole day! A school bus picked us up at our home and drove us to Chicago. We had a seamless check-in and passed through security (of course we got the full body pat-down because of all my bandages!) without incident. It was a speedy 3 1/2 hour plane ride, then through customs in Mexico City. God paved the way and we sailed through!
EV staff met us and we herded onto a plush bus (equipped with "Marley and Me" and "Despicable Me" in Spanish) Most of us were glued to the windows as the sights of Mexico City flew by and gave way to the beautiful mountainous country side. 2 hours later we pulled into the Puebla bus station where more amazing EV staff met us. We did a little jigsaw puzzle action fitting all of the luggage into a small pick-up truck and then all piled into a spacious 15 passenger van. We drove through Puebla and again out to the country to our guest house. The gracious ladies from EV made us feel so welcome and at home in our 3 bedroom / 2 1/2 bath townhome. After some exploring in the neighborhood, done frisbee and a team debrief, we hit the sack, grateful to have such comfy beds and a safe home.
We woke up with the sun, anticipating what God is going to do today! All we can say is... thank you for praying and thank God for blessings us beyond our wildest imagination!
Dana for the team.
Wow thank you everyone for all of your prayers. Our travel day yesterday was really smooth. Everyone in our group still is healthy so thank you again.
It is Saturday morning and our group has had breakfast together, had quite time individually in our Bibles, and shared in a group devotional time together. We are anxiously awaiting the folks from Esperanza Viva to pick us up for our morning work project. I am looking forward to meeting the children at EV. I can´t wait to eat lunch with them, and just spend the afternoon playing with the children. We all want to work hard, but I believe each of our hearts desire is to spend time with the children and get to know them. Thank you again for all of your prayers. Please continue to pray for our health and for our ability to relate/speak with the children through the language barriers.
