Day 3
Today, our original plan was to continue with service work and making cement… but last night it rained all night so it was too muddy to work. Instead our team split up into groups of 3 and we split up into the little boys dorm, little girls dorm, and older girls dorm, where we helped them to clean & put away clothes, then hung out & spent time with them before lunch. After lunch we taught the kids about Noah´s Ark and we had them color animals and put them on a popsicle stick with matching animal print on it. They all loved it & we all enjoyed seeing their precious smiles. After the craft we played tag, sports & chalk. It was a lot of fun. After dinner we got to talk with the founders/directors of “Esperanza Viva” & we got to hear the story of how Esperanza Viva got started & how they got the name “Esperanza Viva” (Living Hope) because they believe there is hope for anyone & everyone. Esperanza Viva is a special place to say the least, the lives touched are countless & hope is abundant. These children have experienced the worst yet I think these are the most smiles I have ever seen in one place. I wish I could describe exactly how this place is changing me, but sometimes something is so moving you just need to experience it yourself. It has been so fun to see more children of God & my brothers and sisters in Christ to get to tickle & giggle with them, and have these kids change my life more than I am changing theirs. Living Hope describes this place perfectly. Each child is living breathing hope.
