East Hill

Friday,
Today was an awesome day with the exception of Erin being sick.  She woke up feeling sick to her stomach and ended up staying back from the day’s events with Linda. Before the day was over, she was running 101ͦ  temperature. We all gathered around her and prayed for her in the afternoon and by the end of the night, she had no fever at all.
We went on an outing to Cholula and were able to view the Great Pyramid of Cholula.  We were able to see the ruins and to view altars where people were sacrificed, including children. This was hard for the kids to see but I was able to say that when a society falls from God, they follow false gods and do things they shouldn’t.  This is true even of the Israelites when they turned from the One True God and followed the gods of the land. They were even known to sacrifice their children to Molech. It is amazing to see history that dates back so far and shows how far people can fall when they don’t know or stop following God.
While in Cholula, we did a little more shopping and then we went out to eat at a local restaurant.  We all enjoyed the down time after a week of such hard work and busyness.
In the afternoon, we did more activities with the kids.  We talked about spending time with God and how we can learn to hear his voice.
In the evening, we were invited to go to Nation’s Church to attend the young adults (college age) youth group. We played an awesome game that we can’t wait to bring back to East Hill’s Ignite and Collide. It was so fun!! We then heard from Joshua (the leader of La Viña, a ministry school that is held at Esperanza Viva). He was also talking about hearing God’s voice and how in order to hear God’s voice, we need to spend time with him. We were then encouraged to find someone that God was challenging us to share with and share what we were hearing from God. Some of the kids were amazed that even though there was the language barrier, Spanish speakers that prayed for them released power that they could feel even though they didn’t understand the words. God is so good. We had a time of worship that was incredible. Many of our students were on the floor worshiping God. What a great way to end the day.
Although from what I understand, it wasn’t the end for the boys. They were up until 2 in the morning praying for each other. I heard it was an incredibly powerful time.
Saturday, we have our time with the teens. We can’t wait to spend time with just them. So many times, they are overlooked because the little kids are just so darn cute. Our team is excited about ministering to the teens and spending the day with them.
We have another treat for all the kids yet to come, but we’ll tell you about that tomorrow….
