Today we opened our day with breakfast and devotions, then headed into Puebla for shopping and lunch. As we entered the center of Puebla, we noticed that many people were gathered in groups in the “zocalo” – the city center.
After we got out of the van, which was deftly maneuvered by Nancy, one of the wonderful staff members at EV, we discovered why all of these people were outside. Since Tuesday there have been more than aftershocks from the earthquake that occurred that day.
We wandered around the colossal market in Puebla, enjoyed lunch at a local restaurant (enchiladas, chicken in mole sauce, etc.)
On the afternoon, we enjoyed more time with the children; we had “The Olympics!” we set up 8 stations and the kids played relay races of various sorts, balloon races, wheelbarrow races, egg-relays, straw under the nose relays, etc.
We all laughed and enjoyed each other’s company, as I ran the “straw relay” I told the kids to put the straw under their noses and hold it them as if they were giving little “besitos” (kisses) then hop on one leg to the yellow line, such fun!
As we spend more time serving EV, and the children, the bonds grow between ourselves and these precious gifts from God and it is bittersweet, the time is short, and I find myself feeling sad to leave.
We had dinner at Molly & Ryan house. They shared their story of how they as a missionary family were called to serve at EV.
We have all been so touched. Our group is such a mixture of people. Two married couple, both expecting babies – so cute! Some younger adults, and two older women, myself included, and we have all grown close through serving God, sharing testimonies, and living together as family.

Our last two days in Mexico brought many different emotions. On Friday we had a couple work projects in the morning. Part of our team dug trenches and came back with sore bodies, but great attitudes! The rest of us sorted clothes donations in a storage room. We reunited for lunch with the kids. After lunch, the excitement grew as we started our games for the afternoon. We planned Olympic Games and the kids all completed. There were games like the three legged race, the wheelbarrow race, and lots of others. The kids had a lot of fun and so did our team! Later on Friday night, Jerry and Susie (the founders of EV) came to our house to share their story, it was such a great time!
