River Rock Team

10/15/13

Today was full of blessings! Bren cleaned teeth of about 30 kids. What is really special about this is that we get to spend one on one time with the children. We get to experience their individual personalities.

After that we had activities. Bren and I’s activity was based on Matthew 5:6” Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled.

We did a homemade plant. We used a cup that represented our bodies, a gummy worm in dirt (Oreo’s that were crushed) that represented the sin that is inside of us, the gummy worm representing the  struggles  inside, pudding (representing repentance) that covered the Oreo crumbs. Once we repent we had a sucker symbolizing a flower, that represented God’s blessing that comes out of us.

The kids loved it. Once we explained everything, they got to eat their home made flower. It is such a blessing to interact with our kids here at Esperanza Viva. They are all about relationship. Being a part of their lives, is something that without a doubt will forever be ingrained in their hearts.

Then we were able to share our gifts with our sponsored child Karla. Wow. To see her smile, to experience her embrace, was so wonderful for Bren and I. Tomorrow we will get to experience this with our other child Toño.

Christ commanded us to go out and spread the good news. He wants us to step out of our comfort zone, and be doers of His Word. We need to step out in faith and be obedient. Sometimes it not easy, but when we do, WOW…God surely blesses. We love all of our kids here at Esperanza Viva and are so thankful that God provided this opportunity for us!
