10/18/13
Today we woke up once again to
beautiful sunshine and the sounds of children laughter (this always puts a
smile on my heart) as they line up to go to school. With our work projects
behind us, we were treated after breakfast with a tour of downtown Puebla. Ale
and Ivana were our tour guides. We
visited Luis Jose Bello’s home, which has been turned into to museum. It was
filled with beautiful antiques from around the world. From there we went
shopping at the market, and then treated to wonderful lunch across from the
cathedral. When we returned to the home the children had completed their lunch
and were anxiously waiting for today’s activities. Today the beatitude we
worked on was Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall become
children of God. For the first activity the children cut out paper dolls
holding hands to represent the children of God. They colored them and attached
them to another paper and added the verse. The second activity was bright red
superhero capes. Where they sewed
patches on them to represent “P” for peace, or a dove or a cross. When the task
was completed there was a sea of red flowing capes running around the courtyard
playing games. After dinner we gathered in the dining tent and played games
with the teens.
