(Written Friday)
We completed our final work day by turning over soil for donated sod and sifting and sweeping sand into paver stones. No one is sad to say goodbye to the hard work, but leaving the work site makes our departure that more imminent.
We helped the boys make their Christmas gifts for their sponsors and had enough time left over to play with the kids. They are a fun bunch and our hearts are so impacted by their joy.
We returned home to the guest house and Connie has graciously made dinner for us, including setting the table with a beautiful centerpiece. Food tastes so much better in Mexico and we are a hungry bunch.
The evening brought the Chavos (teen boys) to the guest house for helado (ice cream) and an evening of worshipping with banners. Our team has discovered aerobic workouts with worship banners does wonders for calorie burning. Again, the passion displayed by the young men touches each and every one of us.
We finished our evening by planning for our game and carnival day today with the kids. Sue Metcalfe is a total machine of organization and of course we give our full attention and respect to the briefing-NOT! Our fatigue is showing in the giggles and sidebars to the discussion. The phrase “Hook ‘em Dano” has us all in tears. Ask us for an explanation when you see us in the states.
