East Hill Church

(Written Thursday)

We all awaken at various times, but one thing is a constant-morning devotions. After chugging down our coffee, taking showers, and eating breakfast we spend 45 minutes or so focusing on a topic chosen by one of the team. They are always different, depending on the leader for the day, but always a great time to reflect and recharge before beginning our day. Today we asked for direction from the Lord in the way of a picture, paragraph, word or sentence to give us what we needed for the day. It was a wonder to hear themes develop as we shared. One of the themes that recurred is the mission each person has to do here that only that person can accomplish. We don’t know specifically what the exact “thing” is we are each called to do, but we trust in God to lead us to the person, place or thing and to give us the courage to carry “it” through.

The ties forming within this group is a blessing to each of us as we live in close quarters and feel the twinge of missing home, loved ones and the comforts we all take for granted in America. To function as a family (or dysfunction) requires patience, kindness, gentleness, self-control (is there a theme here) and a great deal of humor. We definitely have the humor down pat. We are a joking bunch and laughter is a balm for each of our souls.

One of the Esperanza Viva staff came to our home this morning to offer information about sponsoring children or students, staff or families at EV. Where else can you offer only $25.00 a month and receive such a rewarding return. Please ask us when we return home what this is all about. We will be happy to share with you.

In closing we again ask for your continued prayers for our team and especially for the team member struggling to feel better.
