Our first two days of working with the sports camps, arts and crafts, and work project are complete! Although the work is exhausting, God has given each of us strength to continue our day with the kids. We could go on and on about all the exciting things that have happened in these past two days, but here are just some highlights.
Our work project of the week is to construct, from hand, concrete bases that benches are placed on in their Garden of Hope. For this to be accomplished, we have to dig up the ground, cut and place rebar and wire mesh, mix concrete from scratch, and pour the concrete in the wooden bases. All of this work done at 7000 feet above sea level and in 80 degree weather, but you rarely hear anyone complaining. We have had the pleasure of working side by side with a couple of boys from the youth home, and even with the language barrier, we can still serve God together.
The sports camps and arts/crafts activities have been a huge hit. A few of our activities were new to them, so it was extra special to be a part of their enjoyment. A few balls, a few beads, a few pieces of string and some creativity leads to big smiles all around.
Today's time at the EV ended with a very special worship and prayer time with the staff of EV. We were blessed to be individually prayed over by staff members. The team was very touched by the words that were poured onto us during this special time.
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men."
Colossians 3:23
